Hi there, I am an 18yr old college student and am looking into getting a credit card purely for ease of booking things online, which my maestro card will not always let me do. My balance would be settled each month. Do all credit cards require a particular salary?

They are pretty easy to get however all of us who now have big balances on our cards were 'going to settle each month' ...... trouble is it hardly ever stays like that. Just a word of warning! If you can manage to do it then good on ya !
I was in the same situation as you. I got a smile card (www.smile.co.uk) and they never asked my salary. If you pay it off each month you never have to pay interest

Aaah yes lady_p_gold ~ I got my first credit card 'just for emergencies'...several later I realised I had gone back on my word.

It's so easy to do ~ I don't have one anymore!

Try moneysupermarket.com for best cards at the moment.
I have a debit and credit card from my bank. I basically use the debit card for everything. Including getting stuff online. (It's a VISA card and i've head no problems using it online. I think if I was to purchase something expensive then i'd use the credit card as they are insured against fraud over a certain payment value)The credit card is basically a backup.
I would really advise you against doing that unless you are sure you can pay it off every month. I thought exactly the same as you until suddenly other purchases become really attractive and you end up maxing out your card before you know it. On top of that, a lot of credit cards will charge a big APR on cash purchases so you pay back a lot more then you borrowed. Why not try getting a visa electron card, loads of placed take these and you don't get charged for your transactions.
