I paid in a cheque from my company to my Barclays accoount on 28th April. It's still not showing on my statement. I have called the bank and they said it has cleared. The problem I have is that I'm overdrawn by quite a bit and can see amounts going out of my account but still nothing coming in to my account. The woman said the cheque is included in my current balance but how can it be when it's not showing on my statement and all payments in and out are listed?
If what you have been told is correct, it can only be because the entry is on a statment other then the one you are looking at. I suggest you re-check all the entries from 28 April onwards. If the cheque is definitely not there, go into the branch with the statements and insist on going over them in detail to get it sorted out.
Do you have a receipt for the cheque payment? If you still cannot see the cheque entry on your statement, take the receipt and your statement to the bank and ask for some advice. Don't leave until you are happy with the response.
Milly - if you feel you are right - then make a fuss. My son paid 150 cash into Barclays - at the counter - a week last Tuesday. He has online banking and checks his balance every day. The deposit showed as not cleared for over a week. When he checked it out, Barclays said it was a cheque he'd paid in - he told them to check their records and they would see it was cash. They then agreed a mistake had been made which would be rectified after the weekend. Monday came, Tuesday and Wednesday - they didn't clear the funds until 8 days following deposit. - Disgraceful. No apology and no compensation. Just Excuses.
