I have not been to the dentist in over 2 and a half years due to the fact I am on a low income and cannot afford the work I need doing. Last time I went my bill was going to be upwards of �200 and I can only imagine it has gone up since. I really need to get the work done now as I have noticed my teeth have become worse recently. I work full time and was wondering if I am entitled to any financial help as I cannot afford to have the work done.

Do you have kids?tax credits?They canl get you free treatment,we did when we were on tax credits,I would go and ask advice from social or similar!!

Find a NHS dentist and ask for advice at reception. Your local council offices should be able to tell you who does NHS treatment if you don't know. Take evidence of your income with you. Below a certain level, all treatment is free apart from cosmetic work. Another possibility is to contact a school of dentistry if your nearest university or hospital has one. Your GP, too, may be able to advise. You must get help, or the next problem could well be gum disease, and then you'll be in real trouble. Good luck.

pick up a HC1 claim form from your local dentist they ask you a few details about your income and work out from that how much help you will be entitled to against dental treatment. i have recently had to do this.

I Work in an Emergency Dental Service and when People want to become Registered with an NHS Dentist we have to tell them to Phone NHS Direct on 0845 46 47 and ask for a List of NHS Dentists in your Area. That or Phone your Local Primary Care Trust (Yellow Pages) and ask them for a List.

Also, if you are on Income Support or Tax Credits you should receive Free Dental Treatment as said in a previous Posting. Other than that it will be the 3 NHS Charging Bands - but they are not as Expensive as �200 or over!!

Also, some Dentists may let you Pay in Installments (my B/F does this) if you are not entitled to Free Treatment.
