Hi all! Does anyone know about working tax credit? I had a look on the inland revenue website, and also called the helpline to request an application form. Apparently, from the details I gave on the website, I should qualify. However, neither the website nor the helpline person told me how much I would be likely to receive. I am single, no children, over 25, and my salary last year was below 15K before taxes (they told me they base the calculation on last year's earnings). Does anyone know how much I could get, approximately? Also, how do you actually receive the money? Is it added to your wages, deducted from the taxes you pay? Many thanks in advance.
go back on the website and click on do i qualify, there is then an application you answer and it totals the amount. You get paid every week or fortnight and it goes straight into your bank, then you just re apply next yr
I tried that, it tells me I qualify, but comes up with the amount as 0.00 ! Does it mean I won't get anything, or is it just not working ? I was earning 13.5K, btw.
stop making me laugh. listen footie starts soon cant listen to this think about it. Its for families only . why do you want to claim a benefit when youre working youve no reason to claim
you probably won't get any money as i earn 12 grand and i am not entitled to any, i think the cut off amount for people claiming without the child care element is around 10,500 per annum after tax
You definitely do not qualify - earnings are too high. But lucabene is quite wrong. There are two tax credits. One is child tax credit and is for families. The other is working tax credit and is for people (whether or not they have families) who are on a low income.
i work for the job centre you will not qualify as your enarings are too high, if you had children then it would be different, any how they are not very good as i now owe them 5000.00 for overpayments that they made and i am now fighting them with my MP, so if you can manage my advice would be to not claim. you may have an underline entiltement but i really doubt your get any extra money
