Dont know if this is in the correct section, but now he smoking ban is coming into place in July, I wondered what types of changes any locals or city pubs near you have made, as none near me have? When I went to dublin last year, there were awnings outside most of the pubs and cornered off areas, but i havent seen any evidence of this in any areas near me.

FACT smokers are 8 times more likely to steal off old women. and be gay on more than one occasion

Yeah thanks dilf, very informative!! seriously though has anyone seen any changes?
Not pub wise but i've noticed a lot of coffee shops getting rid of their smoking areas.
we have a few non-smoking pubs around here and all of them have lovely beer gardens with patio heaters.

Hi thought i'd have my say.I don't smoke I used to till 10 years ago gave up feel much better. But i still think there should be one area in a pub kept just for smoking. When I smoked there was nothing I liked better at the weekend after a busy week at work to sit and unwind and have a drink and a smoke. This has been in our generation from way back to go pub and meet with friends and just relax after a busy week.No doubt I will get come back on this answer but everyone is entitled to there views.
I live in Scotland and the ban has been in for nearly a year now. Things didnt begin to change too much untill a few weeks before the ban began. Most pubs have outdoor seating and also I know of one that has a heated shelter outside (its not strictly a shelter as by law it cant be covered fully). Also posters and signs went up in cafes etc. People got used to it quickly. In a lot of pubs the smokers just stand at the doorway but this is illegal as you have to be a certain ammount of meters away from the entrance. Hope this helps a bit.

I will miss it too Wendilla, Im in the process of quitting and I know its better for me to quit and be healthy, but there is nothing like a fag and a pint on a friday after a week at work..
theres nothjing worse than smelling stale beer on someones breath, urghh its totally distgusting, it makes me want to puke, yet no one bans alocohol in pubs or clubs or anywhere, please drinkers stop breathing on me.
I live in Wales our ban starts at the beginning of April. No sign of any changes yet in my local pubs. Went in a pub in Barry the other day and they have notices up that they will be bringing the ban in gradually and zoning off certain areas on certain dates.

I can't wait - there was only one person smoking in our pub on Sunday and the whole place was just so smelly from one person!!! Horrible.
