Landlord's Supply Meter

Hi, I wasnt sure which topic to put this under.

The story goes..the Landlord had a new meter fitted to pay for the communal lighting, fire alarm system and security lighting outside, the meter was installed in my flat. I found out this week that the meter was not connected up properly and so I have been paying for all the things above through my meter. The landlord has said that he will reinburse me the money I am owed for paying for their electric, he is going to ask the electrician (the one who fitted to the meter incorrectly to begin with and fitted the security lighting which has never worked properly and for most weeks which has been left on 24/7) to estimate how much all the above items would cost over a period of 12months. The landlord seems to think this is going to be no more than �30!

Has anyone else had anything similar to this and how much money do you think I should ask? I have spoken to people with regards to how much their monthly electric costs, I am a single person living in a one bedroomed flat and I pay approx �45 a month.

There are 3 other flats including mine and all the alarms are linked together and run on the electricity!

Id say itd be a lot more than that for 12 months.

can you see how much it costs a month / quarter now its corrected fitted and metering and then multiply the figure to get a rough idea what it would cost in a year?

The alarm system is pennies - its basically a trickle.

It very much depends on the type of lights that have been obn 24/7 - they could well be low energy. If this is the case, then find out from your electric bill how much you are paying per KWH and then use this calculator to work out the cost of the lights:
