does free advice exist for a 1st consultation with an accountant, same as it does with with some solicitors ? really need to speak to someone, before i go ahead and end up with a massive bill i could have avoided! ta in advance

Why not try calling around a few and find out..........some may...some may not...depends on how desperate they are for business

why dont you ask on here if its a specific query, there are quite a few accountants that could answer you !

Or email an accountant, outlining your query and asking them if they had anyone qualified to answer your query.
I did this and they gave a free opinion on the main point iIneeded to know, so I could decide whether to go further
