I have a normal full time job and a part time job in a pub whereby the tax is deducted from my wages. However I am concerned that the pub landlord is not paying the tax he deducts. I asked his accountant a while ago and he did not think tax payments for staff were being made. The landlord is also quite lax with providing me with wage slips. Is there anyway I can find out how much tax he has paid for me at the pub without calling the tax office? I am worred if I call them and he hasn't been paying they will send me a nice big bill. Any advice?

From your most recent wage slip, you should have a total of how mcuh you have been paid for the year and how much tax and NI has been taken off.

How are you being paid and how long have you been doing the job for?

Write out when you were paid and how much. Be as precise as possible.

My wage slips from the pub are just hand written and only show how much has been deducted on that payment. There is no proof on there that the tax has actually been paid. From the pub I get paid in cash as and when. There is no regular pay day.
If I was you I'd get out now before the sh1t hits the fan. Dis organsied is not necessarily equal to dishonesty but it is a strong indicator. When the revenue find out, and they will at some stage, they'll come after you for what is owed, even though it's been deducted. This only way you can find out is by calling the revenue and that will make them investigate. Just get a job with proper procedures in place.
You should have a P60 every year from the taxman - this shows how much tax you have paid in the previous year.

You will clearly see from this if tax is being paid.
P60's are not issued by the tax man they are issued by the employer . It sounds like there could be something dodgy your pay slips should show tax and NI paid to date not just for that week. I would take copies of all your wage slips and send them to your tax office with a covering letter expressing your concerns for them to have a look at. Its your employer thats breaking the law not you. You cant let this go on because if its true he is keeping your tax and possibly your NI which goes toward your state pension.
Assuming you're in the UK, Loosehead is quite wrong. The taxman will NOT hand you a bill for tax that your employer should have deducted. Phone your tax office ASAP - you won't even have to give your name to get basic advice. You might even want to phone the evasion hotline on 0800 788 887.
