Could someone who has had experience of this tell me if, once a home has been repossessed, do the relivant authorities place any kind of documentation stating the situation in the windows of your home?

Can't say from first hand experience, but as a postman, I am aware of homes that HAVE been repossessed, and I have never seen anything like that.
Can't imagine why they would do this - they aren't interested in advertising the fact - they are merely interesting in recovering their money (mortgage).
What they put in windows is a 7 day notice advertising that if anybody has an items in the house they have 7 days inwhich to make contact and retrieve the goods. Basically telling everyone that the house is a repo.

My hubby and I are house hunting and have looked at about 5 repos and they all had this 7 day notice in the window.
