Rip-off: Wentworth Direct Finance
29 Answers
I recently, flippantly, applied for a loan following email solicitaion from a company called Wentworth Direct Finance, address: Freepost SEA 9712, Wrotham Road, Gravesend, Kent, DA130BR Tel 08704449800 Fax =: 0870 4449897. A reply by land mail said I had been accepted, and "Our brokers fee for processing your loan will be 49. Please send your fee etc etc and we shall process your loan details immediately. "Once we receive your loan approval form, the lending agent will contact you directly. Your consent signature will be required on all loan agreement documents. "Payment protection is available if required. "Please feel confident to use our loan service, we deal with more than 5 Million worth of loan applications weekly." Has anyone ever deal with this company or can anyone check up on them? This smells to me distinctly like a scam. Kindly yours, Trillipse

a company called wentworth finance ltd posted a reply further down stating that they are nothing to do with wentworth direct and what a great company they are !! and if your willing to pay an apr of 81.3% and a £300.00 brokerage fee im sure theyre fantastic !!
just be very careful these companies prey on people who in lots of cases through no fault of their own dont have much choice from whom they can lend always try and find a local community lending scheme first if there is a local one and the banks wont help these guys are ruthless and will charge you
the earth and its legal unfortunately!!! my advice is to think very carefully before using them i know its easy to say but it will save you a lot of money and many sleepless nights !!

I received a call from Wentworth and was told no money would be taken from my account but when I checked my bank statements they had taken £69. I have called them and was told to write a letter to the address on the letter they sent me and address it to Jenny Sheppard that was last week. I received a text today to say my money will be in my account in 5 working days. Lets see what happens.

I went to wentworth direct finance at a time in need i had just moved house and need a few extra grand to help me through the tough time so i payed the fee of 69 pounds but i never heard a thing back off the company every time you ring no 1 answers and the only way i have found to get in touch with the company is to fill a form in on then they ring you in 10 seconds funny that oh just thought they are thinking it is some 1 else they can screw for another 69 pounds bunch of con people
I too almost got stung by this bunch of ******. told me i would receive my loan paper work by friday (3 days ago) called the payment line after reading all the bad comments all over the internet. I told them I am not interested anymore. The girl told me there is nothing i can do about it as their system will try everyday to take money off my card until it gets it, so i should just let it go through then claim a refund from head office. I put the phone down after telling her to be lucky they aint getting a penny, rang up Santander cancelled my card and was assured from them that now they wont get a penny now that card was blocked. So i hope I have passed this without being a victim. The cheak of these people but its our own faults for being lazy and not checking properly.
They completely misguide you. they offer loan finder service which you can do for free from internet., i am also a recent victim. i applied and provided them with the details. they called immediately and i was impressed. i gave them the card details and they gave me a payment date which was yesterday. i received an email for authorization and in haste i accepted it. after accepting it i realised one sentence in the agreement that they are brokers not lenders, so i immediately called and emailed them to cancel the service. they asked me to write them a letter. i posted a recorded delivery stating that it will be an attempt of fraud if they try to take the payment. and guess what, they just did. now i cant get through to them as they are not picking up the phone. if they don't resolve this matter , i shall take them to small courts for the breach of treating customers fairty and fraud/theft. if you need any more info , email me on midlandwolves at gmx.co.uk. hope it helps
Thank you, am so glad I found this site and all your comments. I have done some resurch and found that even some national news papers have investigated this so called finance co. I filled out on line application last week £4000 to help cover costs of a vehicle for my work, they phoned me within minuets to say loan accepted but had to verify that I am UK resident with UK bank account. The chap seemed very proffesional and I gave him long card number from my debit card but not the account number or 3 digit security number from the back of the card. I received acceptance form on Friday 23 March but smelled a rat as it says Wentworth are only a broker and after paying the (brokers) fee, they pass my application to their lending agent. After viewing these comments and thanks also to google, I feel I have had a very lucky escape.... I am just off to my bank to make sure no payments (£69.95) will be taken, not taken yet!! I am keeping my fingers crossed and hope you guys get your money back. Paul Bethell
