Holiday money

When travelling in S Ireland is it better to carry euros to pay for everything. We usually pay for petrol on our Nectar credit car (Amex) and use our Halifax debit card where they will not take amex. We also have a Nationwide account which usually has no money in, should we put money into that to use that card?
Is there a charge for using these cards for Euros?

Check your NW conditions but I think this would be the card of choice. You can also lift cash from ATMs using your card, but remember if you use a credit card there may be a cash withdrawal charge. Again if your NW card is a debit card, you win both ways!!
