Any thoughts on Reiki
13 Answers
I learned this sometime ago, curios and thinking it was a profitable sideline for me.
I could make some money with treatments but I have moral issues here because it's hocus pocus rubbish and I really can't pretend otherwise. Why can't I join the rest and ditch my morals in favour of a s
The same reason I can't hook up with a guy for money I suppose.
How do I become like these people who'll sell their granny for a bob, talk sh*t and lie to sell you timeshare/double glazing/phone contract etc... I need lessons.

when they taught you it did they tell you it was a load of balls?
i think you have to be born a certain type of person to be a sell out or at least be VERY desperate for money!

My ex mother in law is a Reiki Master and she has issues with Reiki , not because she feels it doesn't work, ( she does), but because of the ethos of having to charge people for it, ( the 'energy exchange' principle).
Therefore she is happy to practice Reiki but does so virtually free of charge.
If you want to make a fast buck then any sort of healing is really not the thing for you, as morally it's a pretty reprehensible thing to do.
I do energy work in other spheres( not Reiki) and I can guarantee that if you are simply seeking to earn money from it then you really won't raise any energy at all and it really won't work. you have to have some significant intent to work with energy, good or bad, and indifference because it's only a financial scenarion you're working in will scotch it every time, so do yourself a favour and find something more lucrative.

The Reiki is a load of old tosh.
But I believe there is something positive in the power of human touch, and to have the attention from another person for 40mins is so very nice.
So I believe the touch and attension alone to be beneficial and not the power of Reiki..
Like having a massage, a hairstyle or nails done, touch and attention that make one feel good. Is it not?
I would have to advertise 'Hands on treatment and undivided attention for hire" lol
Do Tesco's make an honest bob? British Gas? I don't believe so, they take advantage somewhere along the line. I couldn't pretend Reiki was real to the individual.. as you say I would be incongruent.
It's a shame honesty isn't profitable.

All Reiki is ( or isn't) is a form of raising and utilising energy (as you've stated).
Rather like some people can cook by instinct and others need to follow a recipe, Rieki does no more ( along with all manner of spiritual, touch healing, laying on of hands even counselling) than provide a recipe for those not familiar with handling their or other people's energy.
It's not necessary as you have observed to work within a framework, but on that basis what you call it is niether here nor there, so why don't you advertise yourself , if you're more comfortable with it, as something like 'energy and touch therapy'?

boogieboogie, I think this is maybe not the route to go for you. If you do thorough research you will see there are a great deal of benefits to be had from Reiki and it is not a scam. It works because everything (inanimate and not) is made of energyand there a sort of flow we're working and living through. I think there are scam artists out there that "perform" it but you'll find them anywhere. And no, this isn't something you "can make money off of" unless you want some bad karma. Anyways... feel free to just ignore me, I'm from the states and we do tend to think we are the know all be all. :)
Hi
i trained in reiki and thought that i may use it as a way of making money in time......................have to say after having done the training ( and i believe in the therapy) i dont charge people!
Bit like someone else posted ....it dosent feel right gettin someone to pay for energy release...............aside from that i actually gain from giving someone a treatment.........dont think it is something that can just be done for th sake of it .

There is NO/ZERO evidence base for Reiki.
Therefore its arguable that anyone profiting from it is of a dubious moral background, that said even though Reiki itself does not work, people do percieve a benefit from it and therefore one could argue that the methodology (nonsense though it is) isn't that important.
British gas, supply gas (and electricity) that gas is a fuel that burns and keeps us warm...FACT
They ae an independant company and entitled to make a profit.
If you have issue take it up with the government and demand a public gas service (not British Gas).
Unlike Reike practioners their 'product' does exactly what is says on the tin.
