i was going to be made bankrupt by a finance company but i managed to agree a figure with them and pay them. however i want to know will this be recorded on my credit history.

So yes it will show up on your credit file.
Credit reference agencies, and there are only three of them, hold information for approx 6 years. At anytime you can write to them to request a copy of your file. It will cost you �2 per company. Doing this you will get a full report and you will then know exactly what they hold.
