it's not as simple as that. The mortgag co has to be satisfied you can afford the mortage on your own, just n your wages. do you earn enough to get a mortgage on your own?
Your partner will have to agree and if there is any equity in the house she will be entitled to a share of that equity.
The mortgage company will have to be convinced you can afford the mortgage on your own, and her name will have to be removed from the title deeds or registered title.
Ask Northern Rock for a 'transfer of equity' form. You will almost definitely need a solicitor also. Taking her name off the mortgage is as described in the other answers but taking a name off the property itself will require the solicitor.
Hi Rooster

I did this when my PH up sticks and walked out. Tried to get his name "taken off" (with his permission) but was told I couldn't afford it. Kept his name on for 3 years whilst paying the mortgage on my own - re-applied and they still said I couldn't afford it. Finally got a sympathetic lender to give me a mortgage on the basis of the 3 years proof.

Ex-OH signed a transfer of Equity form (so that he wasn't entitled to any - a requirement by the lender) but we did need a solicitor, which he paid for.

So its gonna cost whatever.
Good luck
