house insurance

hello all. Can you recommend a UK house insurance company. We will be renters, both professionals, with about 50 grands worth of goods for the potential taking. Also, is house insurance legally required by landlords? It is here in France where we are currently living, but don't think so in the UK.Thanks!

There is no legal requirement for tenants to have thier own insurance, although it would be possible for a landlord to put a term to that effect in the tenancy agreement. It will be for the landlord to insure the building itself.
