A 'switch' card is basically a debit card as opposed to a credit card.  The name switch has just been changed to switch maestro to reflect the fact that the rest of europe call it maestro, not switch.

 

Switch cards are offered by many different financial institutions, they are not just from one issuer.

Switch cards are also debit cards - when you use it your account is not always debited straight away - can take up to 3 days - and also it is guarantee card up to �50 - this got me in a mess with my bank account going overdrawn as I wasnt made aware of this fact so BEWARE
