Place Name Beginning With P

I could do with some Geography type help please, I am looking for a place name..........probably beginning with P.

The clue is;

After proposing, he went to do this, heading north from Maldon.

I have been all over the road atlas above Maldon and can't see anywhere that makes sense with the clue.....he went to do this.......

i know this doesn't start with p but kettering sounds a bit like get a ring

I hurt my eyes scouring the road atlas. Does it have to be in UK?

Clue suggests Pickering which is a good deal north of Maldon. Should it read 'Malton' which is just south of Pickering?

Calibax, you are quite right, when I turned off the computer last night, i went back to the atlas with a magnifying glass, gave up after an hour, then sat with a pice of paper thinking up things 'he' could do, then looking them up in the index of the atlas, such as Bookchurch, Buyring, etc
When I looked up Pickering, I found it just above Malton on the map, so it must be a misprint in the quiz sheet that I have, annoying, but solved now. X
