take a break, chat, real people etc magazines. I always enter chat, take a break and thats life, never won a thing!! :-( i could do with a win. I enter everything, even the ones online. Are these just ake competitions in these mags or are the genuine.

In thirty years I've won the express £1000 GK crossword twice, though the first time I was sharing with a workmate.My sister on the other hand does all the quiz mags and seems to get a win every other week usually just small ones but she has also won two holidays and at least 4 x £1000.

The trouble with competitions like those in PMU, TV Choice etc is that the answers are freely available online on 'spoiler' sites/forums and there are some people who have the time to submit numerous online entries, so the chances of winning are so small.

I have won lots of crossword prizes over the years though ,quite a bit of cash and other stuff. I recently won a hundred quid in the Lovatts Crossword Magazine and a Brewers Dictionary of Phrase and Fable from the FT .

I won £100 next vouchers once in take a break holiday. I have been doing this for 10 years and that is all I have won!! My dad mate won £10k last sept on the crossword! I asked how she submitted her answers and it was by post! X

Yes, from take a break. Although I have had much more success with competitions held in our local paper, winning a LOT of prizes, because no one else thinks they will win. (Hence my AB name),

I have been doing these comps for years...........have won £100 in M + S vouchers, plus £100 Sainsbury vouchers, a BBQ, numerous smaller prizes, last year I won a 3 night stay in the Lake District in TAB Holiday comp, so as you can see people do win, I post mine plus enter on line, love doing them all, keeps the brain active to......................

My son has won 17 holidays in competitions including a £5,500 trip to Los Ageles earlier this year. As the returning plane was over booked they volunteered to go back the next day. The plane company gave him $2,400 of travel vouchers so they went to New York with then. On returning they found they had won a holiday to South Africa.

I won £400 worth of shopping vouchers on TAB. Inflation being what it is, the same competition now has a prize of £1500 worth of vouchers.

Yes, quite a few things over the years. On Chat, I won a TV and DVD recorder and on PRIMA, a kettle, saucepans, hamper, £500 worth of vouchers, vacuum cleaner, cake bakery things. That's just a few things . Also on Premium Bonds I've had a lot of wins.

Many years ago, when I was in the RAF, I was in a syndicate which did the Spot The Ball competition in the NOTW. One Saturday morning the postal clerk, who was in the syndicate, came rushing up to me to tell me that we had got a letter from the NOTW. However it was addressed to the chap who sent in the entry so we couldn't open it. We sat on tenterhooks all weekend until Monday when I gave it to him in the office. You could have heard a pin drop as he opened it. He then announced that we had won - a free entry into next week's competition! Talk about anticlimax!

I have won £200 +£100 +£100 +£25 on national crosswords over the last 20 years but nowt from Take A Break in that time. This year I went to see my eldest son in Zambia and had lots of photos at Victoria Falls, baby elephant farms etc holding a copy of Take A Break and submitted my story to them, after a while they sent it back with a rejection letter I suppose the story wasn't spicey enough for them as I had not gone off with someone's husband or burnt a house down ! LOL !

I won a prize years ago in Take a Break, but it was only a small one £25. I have had more luck in writing to the letters page of magazines. I have had two letters of the week quite recently in Chat - when you consider it is £25 just for writing a few words, it's not bad really. And you don't have to be a genius!

When I was at work there was a woman there who always won everything. If there were any tickets being sold for anything we would always ask if this woman had entered and if she had we would not buy. We even suggested giving the prizes straight to her. There seems to be some people who win prizes in everything come what may. And some who never win anything.
