I was reading the Metro on the train this morning coming into work when I came across an article about how a baby of 4-6 months old had been buried alive in cement. It was decovered that the little baby, named as Lara by Police had been beaten and sexually abused before she died. I was so upset reading this, how could someone do such a thing? Pure evil. I hope the Police find out who did this cruel and terrible thing.

Whilst I find this very disturbing,can someone explain something to me( I am probably dense) If she was buried in cement(how long ago was this?) how did the Police work out that she had been beaten and sexually abused? If it was some time ago,when the cement was removed surely the tissue would come away with it?Or did it happen quite recently?
The cement was about 15 years old and I wondered about the findings as well. If there was cement in the lungs, then one could conclude the child was living whilst entombed.
DT reports DNA tests are confusing - and there is a history of concealed birth. However one of the daughters has protested that first she was accused of having a child she never had and then was accused of killing her.
While you all are rightfully shocked, you miss the point entirely. Read about the massacres in Iraq, Bosnia and Kosovo. Anyone of numerous recent high profile murders. The death toll in Sudan. The tsunami. September 11th. Fred West. The boys who murdered James Bulger. The London bombings.
The real world isn't a nice, cosy, full of flowers, rainbows, and love. It's a ******* horrible place.

Yes Andy you assume correctly I am indeed an adult, and of course I'm horrified by things that happen in Iraq, Kosovo etc and deaths by natural disasters, but that does'nt mean that I or anyone else for that matter should'nt voice our disgust at this particular crime.......I hope the day never comes when I read about something like this, think to myself - oh, dear another one but I suppose worse things happen and quickly turn the page to see what's on the telly!
I totally agree with you Libertie. You said all the things that were running through my head when Andy008 expressed his insensitve feelings. Get a grip??? What a stupid thing to say...we are just discussing the sadness of this child, of course we know of all the other horrible things that go on across the world!! Such an idiotic thing to say.. What's the point in posting a comment like that?
Yes, might I add to everyone else's post (except Andy's I'm afraid) that feeling terrible about a crime is not something that you are immune to just because you are an adult. Its not shameful to feel upset about someone else's suffering and pain - in this case the victim is a child, but its equally upsetting to hear of an adult being killed, which is what I meant in my previous post.
This is not 'the thin end of the wedge', this is a completely unusual and isolated incident. I know where you're coming from, Andy, the world does seem a bad place, but I really think the number of good 'uns is at least 98 percent.
I remember well the discussions in the film 'Se7en': "the world is a good place, worth fighting for. I agree with the second part at least."

The original thread merely stated the obvious, the hope that the police find who did it, which is what I and every other sane person think.
My point was that having had first hand experience of some extremely unpleasant situations, I was rather surprised at the apparent shock caused by this case.
I could go into detail about numerous other nasty things that happen in the world, but I won't.

Andy, not everyone has had first hand experience of this so for us, we are really not used to hearing about a baby been buried alive and I'm sorry that you found our shocked reaction to be unusal. Myself and most people found your post to be quite insensitive and rude.
Everyone has a right to have an opinion, yes, but why be rude about it and tell us to get a grip? We were/are merely talking about this poor child.....we know bad things happen in the world but we can still talk about it can we not?
