Last November, I was told he was at end of life stage. He was sent back to his care home with all medication withdrawn except for painkillers and antidepressants.
Today was his 84th. birthday. We took him to the local Beefeater, his treat. He ate garlic bread, steak, chips and salad and an apple crumble and drank 2 pints of London Pride. He was laughing and joking and we had a really nice time. He was back to being my lovely Dad again.
Tilly - glad you had such a lovely day with you dear old Dad. It sounds as though he really enjoyed himself. Hope you have many more nice days with him x
Margo, thank you. I go to see him every day and sometimes it's a pain to have to do so but when he does go, I will feel guilty about finding it a pain!
Oh Tilly why should you feel guilty, you go to see him every day., you can't do much more! When my Mum had a stroke I went in twice a day, even at the end when she was in a deep coma, I used to mutter and moan to myself sometimes as I was running around but I don't feel guilty about it, it's human nature really.
Great news, tilly. I don't know what my daughter would do without me. I've done most of the jobs round her house. My son in law is a whizz with computers, but i wont let him near a saw:-/. As you know i lost my mother last month, so enjoy the rest of the time he's with you.
