A dilema at work!!
5 Answers
Ive got a huge problem at work and i really dont know what to do!
I started working at one of my local pubs 3 weeks ago and i love the job so much and the people are really nice!! Ive loads of experience working in a bar and i feel i have settled in really well! I have a shift everyday and i dont get a day off!! I have asked my bosses for some time off in september because im helping my sister organise a charity clothes show!! Its not a great deal of time off its only gonna be a change of shift for 4 days all in all throughout september!!
When i asked my bosses they refused point blank without even hearing me out!! I wouldnt mind but this is an important event!! Ive given them plenty of notice, i work a shift for them everyday and its only a shift change i dont have to have the days off. i dont think im being unreasonable!!
WHAT SHOULD I DO????

Ask your employer for a copy or a summary. That should state in writing how to apply for leave, how much leave you are entitled to, and how to complain if you have a grievance.

It sounds as though your employer is being unreasonable.

You will probably get a better response to this in the Jobs section...
But, you should look through the guidance on this website:

and use that to argue your point with your employer.

Stop whinging and do what you want to do if you loose yer job then you have something else to whinge about.
For goodness sake if you have no contract of employment etc then yer boss has you by the nether regions.
Do you really want to loose your job if not say sorry to your sister for your bad timing.

Who said i was whinging?? I was just asking for advice!! As it happens i dont work for them any more! It was only a summer job before i go back to uni. I left because they would not give me a day off, I worked EVERY day for 4 weeks hoping that my next rota would have a day off on it!! There is nothing whingy about wanting a day off in the week!
I did not leave under bad terms and i still go in and see the guys i worked with!!
