Different party food
4 Answers
I am hosting an 'adults kids party' in a few weeks, for around 15 people, we are playing games such as pass the parcel, truth or dare and monopoly etc and to avoid me having to spend too much time in the kitchen before and during the night i would like some different ideas on what food to put on. I want to do a buffett but not a tradtional type of sarnies, crisps and cheese and pineapple sticks.. something a little new and unusual maybe. I'd love any ideas that you may have. TIA.

Could you not possibly ask the people coming to bring something each to help take the load off you?
I like the idea of having like a mexican buffet!
A couple of large portions of mince/chicken (some hot & some not for the kids), chop up some salad, grated cheese, salsa, and some fajita wraps and tacos, and let people help themselves to what they fancy? also some nachos with cheese on for snacky things and other stuff :)
May not be helpful at all but I like the idea lol!

Great idea wiggal thanks, i have one of those hot plate things too which would keep it warm. Thats got me thinking! I wanted to do jelly and ice cream for afters so it would go down nicely after some hot stuff! I'm stuffed one the idea of the guests bringing stuff as many live quite a way away and are travelling to get to me so don't like asking! Counting on them just bringing the alcohol.
Hi Macsilk, I love wiggal's idea! Themed food is always great. You could go for chinese or indian (easy on the spices though for kids that might be fussy, or provide an alternative). The supermarkets have those party food packs, Morrison's do mixed Chinese starters, mixed Indian starters etc. for a good price, or you can go fresh at Deli counters. You could go Italian, and get those mini pizzas, garlic bread, tiny pasta portions or cold pasta, and a big bowl of mixed salad.
Or you could set it as a tea party, with little fairy buns and sweet cakes, and various sandwiches and buns all arranged nicely.
Have a great time whatever you decide!
