can a house sale be forced

a friend bought a house with her boyfriend a few years ago but the relationship has turned sour and she wants out. he still wants her to stay. they are not married but they both have names on the deeds and mortgage. he is refusing to sell and cannot get enough mortgage to buy her out anyway. she has had sufficient mortgage agreed in principle. can she force him to sell the house?

She needs to get some good legal advice here.
When I split with my ex he stopped paying his half of the mortgage and I was forced to sell as I couldn't afford to keep the house myself and plus I decided I wanted a clean break from him.
In a way it was a blessing in disguise as I ended up living 60 miles away in a new city.
That's what kept me from going back to him in the end losing that house.
