Step dad and son fighting again
Last night a row erupted over something really silly which ended in my son calling my partner a **** in the street. He then rode off on his bike. My partner is taking it hard. In the eyes of most of us long suffering parents really too hard I think. Ive tried to tell him that all teens are selfish, self absorbed, lazy etc. and that all teens rebel against authority and that in this case it happens to be him.
But hes taking it so seriously and Im afraid its going to get out of hand just days before the wedding.
He wants an apology. Realistically this aint gona happen. Aparently he tried to talk to him today when I was at work and they were both at home. But it was hopeless.
How can I pour oil on troubled waters?

Have been here and got the t shirt. Can I suggest that you leave them to it. Side with your husband to be and let son get on with his strop without an audience. Do not reward his bad behaviour with any response at all. From what I remember he is 17. Tell him that you don't have to put up with him treating your home and family in this way and there is a door which he can go through if he doesn't like your rules.
Do not give him any money if he does not toe the line and refuse to do anything for him if he does nothing for you. ie his washing or cooking.
Good Luck
