Family Tree Maker is excellent, I think it costs around 30. There is also Legacy, that is also good and you can download the standard version for free at http://www.legacyfamilytree.com/
The LDS site also has a free download to help you keep your family tree in order. I haven't tried this one but I know lots of people swear by it. You can download it
Hi Buttons
I am from the old school of Family History research and taught it in adult education for 5 years. If you get bogged down with anything let me know and I will try to help, the on line research is fabulous but can sometimes be inaccurate at a personal level, because you are lulled into thinking there cannot possibly be more than one person with that name in that place at that time, trust me, there most certainly can. My own research coverered a vast array of records looked at many years prior to electronic research, and my earliest direct ancestor came from Ireland to Chester, England in 1430 to make and sell shoes in Chester City.
Hooray, at last something i can sound clever about on CB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
