Is cycling profieciency still taught in schools?

I think it must depend on the school - perhaps it`s a question of volunteers. There are signs in the side-roads here saying when children are on training but neither the junior nor senior school that my grand-daughter attends operate cycling lessons. I had to contact the local educcation dept. who operate a course on Saturdays for four weeks for which she got her cycling proficiency certificate which she needs if she is to ride to school.
