theres no problem with you doing this but both you and the babys father have to be there when you are registering the birth because you aren,t married.

congrats !

Did you say Virginia law? As in the America?

whatever country you are in, in my view, if the father of your baby cannot or will not give YOU his name....i.e. make a commitment to you and marry you.....then why on earth would you allow your child to have HIS name...a child is a life long commitment.......if he cannot commit to you, what makes you think he will commit to this child........

*the above is a personal view and other views are available*

Wow.....that's a very sexist view. How do you know that she wants to marry him? Perhaps she's fallen pregnant without having planned it and has decided the commitment of a baby is quite enough for now.

scoobydooby........this comment is prob best asked of the questioner but if she does not want to marry him then why on earth is she having a child with him? In my way of thinking the two should always go together.

pardon me if that sounds old fashioned........but i do not see anything wrong with being old fashioned

PS.......in my original reply I DID state that other opinions are available!!
