Fathers Day
My friend was rather cynical when he encapsulated his experiences of Fathers Day from his persepective as a dad when he told me; 'You have to go where they (mum and kids) want to go, you have to drive AND pay'. Does anyone share this view?

That would really be a treat - as long as they deserve it. If they aren't very good fathers then perhaps Fathers Day should be about them looking after the kids all day and learning what it is all about and giving Mum a rest.
I thought Fathers day was a day to celebrate being a father. Surely that then means celebrating with your children and partner? Its my partners first fathers day this year and also his first year without his dad, Id love to know what he may be expecting from it if it isnt to spend time with our son and myself
Same here Boob, hubby says the whole point of Father's day is to spend it with your family and to get a little spoilt!
It's what I get for Mother's Day and I wouldn't have it any other way :o)
Just what exactly would be the point in Father's Day if it wasn't to spend it with their family? If it wasn't for their kids they wouldn't have a chance to get spoilt on that one day. Sheesh! some people.....

I'll meet up with my children tomorrow and we will have a meal/drink. I am not expecting them to waste their money on cards and they know that they don't need to buy a card to say that they love me. Basically it will be like many other Sundays and I will pay - because I love them and they are "poor" students.
My own Dad died a few years ago and I think of him everyday anyway.
I just ignore all the commercialised rubbish about Father's Day, Mother's Day etc.
