Holiday laws
Hi, My name is Jenna and I'm 17 years old. Please could you help me with the current holiday laws? I would really like to go on holiday this summer with my boyfriend - who is 18 - but I don't know what the legal age to travel abroad without your parents is??? Would I be permitted to travel abroad with my boyfriend as he is 18? Or do i HAVE 2 have a parent present when flying abroad? What is the current legal age to travel with a guardian other than your parents? Sorry if this sounds stupid but i have tried many resources to no avail. I would be EXTREMELY grateful for any help!! Thank You.

(I used to know a confident 12-year-old who regularly travelled, on his own, between his parents' home in Sheffield and the home of his relatives in Paris. Some airlines will allow parents to put an unaccompanied 8-year-old on a flight half way across the world, as long as they can prove that the child will be met by relatives at the end of the journey).
If you're 17 and your boyfriend is 18, you could have been married for a year and be thinking about taking your own child abroad, so there should be no difficulties with the two of you travelling together. The only thing that you need to keep in mind is that the holiday arrangements should be booked by your boyfriend and not by you. This is because, at 17, the law regards you as too young to enter into any form of legal contract (such as a holiday booking).

Hi Jenna, I went on holiday to Tunisia with my boyfriend last year when I was 17 and he was 18. You will be able to go, but as you are under 18 will need authorisation from a parent or guardian, which you do at the travel agents or whoever you book with. after that you don't need anymore authorisation and you can go! hope you have a great holiday xxx
