rusks
chicken
mashed potato
marmite on toast,
and make source he drinks a pint of milk each day either as a drink in or soups/puddings ect. and he'll be fine

if it isn't causing tummy ache or the 'runs' then it's fine. I have to hold back on fruit with one of my daughters as she has a very sensitive stomach and does tend to get diorrhea if she has too much. The other don't and they have way more than the 5 portions a day.
What would mr vics suggest? letting him go hungry or feeding him skips instead?
I think it's way better than some of the rubbish parents normally feed their darlings.

Yes there is such a thing as too much fruit and you can tell when thats happened by the content of the nappy and the sore red bum! My ex's mum gave my son a whole melon when he was 3 - because he was enjoying it - and i was the one that had to clear up after it and listen to the wails of tummy ache. Just use your common sense
Hello, I have 4 children ages 3, 5, 6 and 8. My 5 yr old eats tons of fruit (at least 5 portions a day if not more) and whilst he is the healthiest of the lot he also has the worst teeth.
He cleans them twice a day under supervision yet he has had to have 3 fillings. My dentist feels that the fruit acids may have something to do with it as this is the only factor that is different between him and his siblings.
I have not stopped him eating his fruit but I just thought I'd add my 'ten pennorth' to your thread.
(BTW - his fruit intake doesn't seem to affect his bowels!)
