few weeks ago i asked for advice about poo problems with my grandson .to wee no problem but could not get him to poo on toilet.took all advice .now we have got a good stage further.he will say i need a poo and will go on his own accord and do it and of course he gets praised for this and then another day he will just stand and do it in his pants.he knows as he says i promise i wont poo in my pants but he still does .so long ago i cant remember how i got over this with my 2.any suggestions will be most appreciated but it is probably something he will just grow out of.hope it wont be too long.he will be 4 in january and i look after him 4 days in the week .any advice will be greatly appreciated.
My son was doing exactly the same recently. Really it is as you say - a matter of time - the best thing is to reward him when he does go on the loo and try to ignore it when he doesn't. I think the problem (especially with boys) is that they are always too busy doing other things and only realise when it's too late sometimes. don't worry it won't be too long.
They get so caught up in what they are doing activity or programme wise, they ' forget" until it is too late. I used to have a digital timer that went off every fifteen mins. to help them remember to think about whether they needed to go or not. That helped and i didn't have to nag the buzzer was the question!
Thanks both the annoying part is when he just stands and I say to him what you doing do you want to go to toilet and I know he is doing it never mind as you say a matter of time and AMARA I might just give that a go. thanks again.
