babies first hair-cut
8 Answers
My son is nearly 1 and desperate for his hair to be cut. He is starting to look like a little girl!
Can anyone give me some advice on how or when to do it?
Iv thought about trying to do it while he's asleep as it would be impossibe to keep him still and stop him grabbing at scissors if he's awake, but I dont want to start cutting and him wake up half way through.
Ideally i'd like to get the clippers on it but I know it wouldn't be wise and would probably frighten him.
Any hints or tips would be gratefully appreciated.

Plus I have been in the hairdressers when a young child has been there and the child ended up very distressed, she got fed up and wanted to play, but as the hairdresser had started cutting, she had to finish. It was quite upsetting to watch.
Ahhh ok, see your point- lol.
I have al ittle girl so luckily this problen has not cropped up, I just chop her fringe whenever it starts poking her in the eyes!!
How about cutting it over the course of say a weekend or a couple of days when you're not going out? For example, chop a bit off on Friday night, bit on Saturday and tidy it up on a Sunday....that way you're only doing it in short bursts?
Or....how about when he's in his chair eating? Give him a slice of toast, stick CBeebies on so he's distracted and do it then???

well my son is 20 month now and i've been cutting his hair for about a year now! and i'm afraid to say that i use the clippers and it doesn't bother him at all i sit him in front of a mirror and he plays with all my purfums( obviousley being very careful that he doesnt eat them) but it works perfectly and no danger of stabbing him with scissors if he moves suddenly because the clippers are perfectly safe just noisy! hope this helps
Well, Iv done it.
Started with the scissors but got scared every time he moved so I got the clippers. It worked a treat!! He giggled all the way through it.
My only mistake..... I thought that a number 3 would still leave some length to his hair. I didnt realize just how short it would be. Luckily he really suits it.
Thanks for all your advice folks.
