Conception .......

Now I would say that I am an intelligent person and have passed a quarter of a century so have a reasonable anount of life experience in general. But the following I need to pick peoples brains on...
I had been on the contraceptive pill for over 10 years. * months I came off it partly due to blood pressure. I am in a long term stable relationship... We are not trying for kids but if it happens it happens..(you know the stahe lol)_
We have not used alternative methods of contraceptive since I have come off the pill. What I really want to know is how safe really is the withdrawel method?? (I know its no where near as alternatives but really that not a concern as previously explained) and also it seems pretty impossibe for a woman to conceive at certain parts of the cycle? I just want your thoughts on this please!
I just think its crazy that you see teenager having sex for the first time becoming pregnant and others take years to conceive!!

Even when withdrawing on time it is possible for some cowpers fluid (pre ejaculate) to contain sperm and enter the vagina. Although it is estimated that around 40 million couples still use this method, studies have shown that the failure rate is around 7-10 times that of condom use but less when both methods are carried out perfectly (perfect failure 4% vs 2%). If you were specifically trying not to conceive then it would not be recommended.
