Not sure how to proceed?
in 1999, I had a baby a nd did not know at the time who the father was. I know that this is sensitive to some people, but, being young and dumb was my lifestyle at the time. I let my boyfriend at the time sign my daughter's birth certificate knowing that he was not the father, but, he did not know at the time. Well in 2001, the other guy asked a question after he saw her at a wedding reception and asked me if she was his child. I told him the only way to know for sure is a paternity test. i got that done, and it turned out that he was actually the father. Now, I have explained to the other guy, who is no longer my boyfriend (we broke up in 2000), but, i do not know if it is a simple way, or if we all have to come to court just to get his name removed?

I am not sure if a birth certificate can be changed, unless a child is adopted...in which case a new certificate is issued.
Try putting your post in the Law section, there are some very knowledgeable people over there!

Yes it is a legal offence to give false information to a registrar but pleased don't let that frighten you. I have never known of anyone being prosecuted for it. They would rather the registration be accurate and an amendment can be made.
Contact the office where you registered the birth and take it from there. They will explain and guide you through it.
Please don't worry. If you've already had the paternity test test done, you're half way there. It will be better for all in the long run.

You could explain to the registry office that you believed that your child's father was who you said it was at the time, but have since discovered through a paternity test that it was someone else. You wont be the first nor the last that this has happened to, so I am sure there is some way to get the birth certificate changed. Good Luck
