Pyjamas and Pants

Can someone settle a completely silly argument me and my friend are having. She says her son who's three should wear underwear under his pyjamas at night. I say he shouldn't. Can anyone help settle this silly debate? Although I don't think there is a right or wrong answer.

I don't have kids myself, but when I was one, my mum always insisted that I DON'T wear panties under my pijamas. It's all about sweating/heat during the night (and bacteria love humidity and heat!) . No pants keeps the aera "aired"...lol
I do the same today, and I'm 29.

I would not make any child wear underwear under PJ as it is more likely to lead to other problems ie thrush.

I know quite a few people that let there children do this. I dont wear underwear with pyjamas or nightie and neither do my children.

My children don't wear anything underneath their PJs - I can't remember if I did as a child or not. Now i don't wear anything. Does she give them clean pants to wear, or is it the pants they have had on that day?

Yes as he's a boy and boys pyjamas have holes in the front of them that a boys bits will fall out of, not to mention other times when he has pre-pubescent excitement happening !

Girls PJ's don't have this hole in the front so with girls it's not too much of a problem.

Hiya Cockney - where do get boys pyjamas with holes in them? I think that this went out in the 1950's - Do you get the pointed hat to wear with them and do they have stripes or a lovely paisley pattern? lol you have made my day.

All my pygamas have the gap in the front for 'ease of access' - I'd suggest they are more comon than those without.

Tell your friend to shop around, she should be able to find pyjamas without the access apperture, and that will solve any problems.

Maybe you just get this in grown up pyjamas - my other half doesn't wear any - I can assure you that in the multitudes of boys pyjamas I have bought over the last 6 or 7 years, I have never seen any with any kind of apperture - or in boys pants either!

You'll probably find the pyjamas with the slit at the front are mainly cotton ones or the type with shorts. Also, boys pants dont have the split, as far as I know, but a majority of boxers do.
I can remember as a kid, I didnt wear underwear under my night clothes. The only time my daughter does is if shes wearing a nightie but this is mainly because shes not very lady like!

Maybe boys/men shoudl wear the PJ's with the slit at the back for all that wind!! (Just a thought)

Just making sure, I know that some boys PJ's do have access holes in them. You don't want any escapism from the front of PJ's now do we?

More importantly, make sure that if the PJs are also flame retardant as this has been in the news at the beginning of the year, there is some law that means that some childrens night wear doesn't have to be as flame retardent as others....if they are not they should think about investing in fire guards and stuff.

I've just checked and PJ's do not have to be flame retardant.

i only ever buy my son 100% cotton pj's and they have never had slits in the front!! definately no underwear, give everything an airing! let it hang free

There was a lady on GMTV going on about flame retardancy of pyjamas. She "only left her two year old by the fire (ungaurded) for a few minutes and his pyjamas caught fire". Clearly thats the pyjamas fault! People are mental

Tell you mate to keep his boys stones supported and stop whinging about it.

How much damage can one small boy do whilst sleeping, all he is going to do is turn over.boxers provide hardly any support, and men wear them whilst playing football ( and other vigorous activities) with no worries. next your gonna say women should go to bed with bra's on.
