Fear of Flying
Anyone got any ideas or hints to help me cope with flying? I go on holiday every year but only go as far as Majorca as i hate flying (**** scared of it ). Not going till31st of July but already got that sick feeling in my stomache just thinking of it. Even looked into getting euro train to paris and then to madrid then ferry to avoid flying, but too exspensive.....

I found relaxation tapes and a hypnosis tape helped me. I still don't like it much but I am much better. If you look in any store selling music they should have some somewhere, I can't remember the ones I had, but there are several about.
I am also clostrophobic so had double fears to cope with and now travel as far Canada, Australia, far East and we are planning a round the world trip now, so you can over come it. Try the tapes or CDs, listen to the hypnosis one now every day as often as you can and the relaxation one in between and take it on the plane with you. It does work but you have to think possitive.
Good luck and enjoy your trip.

I was terrified of flying and know exactly how you feel., I would put off any holiday I could until guilt made me give in so my family wouldn't lose out.. I became ill on holiday 3 years ago and spent 5 days in hospital in Italy where they wanted to operate. This was even more terrifying and so with the unofficial help of a rep I signed out and booked my own flight home. I can't explain the relief as the plane took off for England, I relaxed completely. This feeling, of 'escaping danger' as one reply suggests, definitely cured me as I know now there are worse things to be frightened of. PS I had a successful op here and was told the op they planned in Italy could have led to serious complications. Now I'm not the happiest of fliers but I am a lot more at ease. Hope you enjoy your holidays.
