Spinning baby!

Hi everyone

Baby Picky is now just over 4 months and now he's trying to become more mobile, he has taken to spinning around in his cot (it's a cot bed), full 360 degrees sometimes! He will kick himself round until he is upside down (instead of being feet to foot in the cot, it's head to foot) or will end up across the cot. He's in a grobag as there is no chance of him staying under covers as he's always kicked them off, so I'm not so worried about him getting jumbled up in the blankets etc, but I am obviously aware of the feet to foot advice. I know you can get things that kind of wedge baby in position at night, but I would have thought that would make him hot. Has anyone else had experience of this, and if so, how did you solve it, or did you just let baby do what he likes? Thanks in advance

If he has enough strength to shuffle himself round, then there is not a lot you can do about it - he should be able to get himself out of trouble or shout loud enough for help. I gave my kids free reign within the cot as long as there is nothing in there to catch themselves on.

Thanks Annie. I don't put anything else in his cot when he's asleep apart from him - all toys are removed as soon as he nods off or I'm not next to him for fear of entanglement! Seems like I should just let him enjoy his baby break dancing!

if hes in a gro bag make sure its not too big and he cant wriggle down into it.

If he is just moving around in the cot then leave him to it. A baby in a grobag doesnt need to be feet to foot if there is no blanket

Hi Picky, I had exactly the same problem, apparantly its to do with the fact their sleep patterns are a lot lighter than ours so they wake up slightly a lot during the night.(does that make sense!)

Sounds like you're doing the best thing by keeping him in a grobag-I did the same as I just could not stop mine, now he's 8 months and decided 2 months ago he wants to sleep on his front-all the advice says not to let him but he can roll over easy enough on his own-at first I started stressing and going in every hr to turn him over-to no avail. I reckon he'll be alright, lol!!
