3 year old with travel sickness
My 3 year old has developed travel sickness all of a sudden. The problem is there seems to be no patten to it. Sometimes she is throwing up after 30 mins and other times we can go 3 hours with nothing. The dvd playes seems to make no difference either way. I am not keen of dosing her up with drugs every time i go out just in case. I have got some of those bracelets that go on the pressure points. We went out the other day and had a hour drive and she was fine. I wondered if anyone has any ideas for me to try before I resort to drugs.
Handy hints on getting the stench out of the car would be good too. Thanks in advance.

I used to use the pressure point bands and they worked most times, although there was still the odd time when they didnt work.
She is now 6 years old and we have found that all she needs is something like a werthers original sweet to suck on and nothing else! This seems to be her cure!

Thanks but I forgot to say she wont eat ginger bread men, biscuits etc. Mum suggested those unless there is any other ginger stuff I nor tried. I got some travel sickness tablets for her but as it is not every time i dont want to dose her up too much although if the episodes get more frequent i will have to. Thanks
my son suffers from this as well, we cant use the dvd at all, we don't allow him to read, draw or use computer games. We have found that letting him sit in the front or in the middle seat helps so that he has a clear view in front of him. It also helps to make sure that he is not too hungry or full - stick to dry savoury bland snacks - e.g ready salted crisps - ham sandwiches. It depends more on the type of road rather than the length of the journey. e.g 4 hours on Motorway=fine , 30 mins on windy road=sick!
Try not to travel too early in the morning either and, not to critisise anyones driving, try to be as smooth as possible - hard acceleration and braking make it much worse.
Keep the window slightly open and the car well aired. We have not used travel sickness medication until very recently, and then waited until he has started to feel unwell before giving the minimum dose.
As for the smell - my advice is to sell the car!
Try a dose of frebreze after cleaning and keep it aired!
