My baby is 7 months old and i was wondering if he would be ok with a banana? i was thinking of mashing it up 4 him so hes got something different to try.. Or what else can he have so he isnt having baby food all the time.. thanks
how about rusk or a piece of toast. if he is able to hold things give him bannana he will prob just suck it, just watch him with it. my son used to have a piece of toast, he would just suck on it.
plain biscuits
mashed potato
weetabix
you can try him with most soft things as long as you watch him with it. at this age it is just trial and error
He should be fine with banana - you shouldn't have to mash it too much, so he gets used to lumps and chewing. He can pretty much have whatever you are having as long as you reduce the seasoning.
For examples:
Breakfasts - give porridge or wheetabix and flavour with pureed or mashed fruit (keep frozen in ice cube trays and just pop a cube into the hot breakfast - cools and flavours at the same time)
Snacks
fruit
yoghurts
Meals
Mashed fish with potato
mashed spaghetti bolognaise
My kids enjoyed steamed courguette and potato mashed with cheese melted in it.
i have blended pretty much anything including chicken and gravy pie with carrots, any casseroles and soups - you can always mash abit of bread in to increase the thickness.
Also try cous cous, semolina
He may even like toast fingers to chew on - spread a bit of cream cheese or something on them.
Hi, thanks for your answers, he has rusks and soft buiscuits but im so paranoid hes going to choke i get scared giving him anything else. When he chokes on a bit of buiscuit i have a heart attack lol!
I will try what you suggested and see if he likes it..
Thanks again x
mashed potato and baked beans was always one of my sons favourite.
if he dont seem to like the lumps just blend it that bit more. my kids had a full sunday lunch at 6 months- roast potatoes, mash chicken veg and gravy just blended
I know what you mean about being scared that they will choke, but you just need to supervise them - a friend of mine gave her kids chunks of pizza to chew on even at that age - I think that the earlier you get them used to eating different flavours and textures the better. It is also a lot cheaper!
