Maybe you should go back to the GP again?
Have you ever watched him 'secretly' getting down from the table to see if he gets down without complaining? Oh, I;m not saying he is putting it on, but just to check that is happening every time IYSWIM?
Only thing I can suggest about the booster seat is to explain if he won't use it his knees will hurt but then you probably already have! LOL
I think a return trip to the GP is in order

Hmm, that sounds strange. Do you really think he is in pain. I know with our girls, we could usually tell the difference between a true pain cry and a getting attention whiny cry.
As for the booster seat, make him use it. You are the parent, and what you say goes. If you start giving in to him now, you be in trouble in the near future.

hi he has no swelling, but just cannot stand whe gets down from the table. i have to stand and rub his legs for about 5 minutes every time. he doesnt complain of them been hot, but never keeps his clothes on anyway, he loves to strip down to his vest.
if it was just every now and then i woulcnt worry but it is every day. if i try and ignore it, he reallt cannot walk anywhere or put full weight on his legs for a few minutes.

Are his knees red just in the area that he has been kneeling on? If so, then thats not unusual. As this is happening on a daily basis though, I would take him back to the doctors and ask for it to be investigated. If the doctor refuses, demand to see another doctor for a second opinion. If he has a problem with his knees, joints, etc ( and that is a big if ) then it needs to be seen to now rather than later as leaving it can cause damage. Dont panic though, it simply be a phase he is going through whilst growing and will therefore grow out of it soon.
Dont let the doctor fob you off though, insist he gets seen and this is looked into properly. Make a noise if they refuse to do so!
