maternity clothes
19 Answers
my wife is (very) pregnant & is really struggling to find a half decent selection of maternity clothes. everyone seems to be reducing or removing their maternity sections- Asda, Next, Topshop, D.Perkins amongst others all seem rather poor even after people have reccommended them (anyone would think that people don't need them anymore!). bizarrely when we went to a wedding in Galway a couple of months ago there were 2 actual maternity shops, we're beginning to think we should have stocked up there! its obviously a niche that is there to be filled in England (well the NW anyway). Can anyone offer any advice as to good places to try?? ta

I love H&M, I had the same problem when I was pregnant, the only things available at other places were uuuuuuuugly and poorly cut. I also used a lot of non-maternity low rise jeans a few sizes larger (they go under the belly) and super strechy shirts that fit my upper ribs, chest and shoulders nicely but streched comfortably to accomodate my belly. It was also nice to flaunt my belly rather than hide it in some burlap sack-looking thing.
Formes is a french maternity wear chain - quite pricey but lovely tailored clothes - probably more for special occasions or if you need formal gear for work .. but you might get some nice separates. Blooming Marvellous also has some maternity clothes. Both have websites but don't know them offhand .. I bought some maternity vests from H & M and wore then under same coloured t shirts and got away with wearing that until quite late on ..
hi
im early on in my pregnancy and its not only the NW that's useless-down in Devon there's absolutely nothing-considering Torquay has one of the biggest percentages of teenage pregnancy you'd think someone would have thought to open at least one shop!!
Good luck with the clothing problem! I'm looking on line for all mine!(ebays quite good!)
Push Maternity (type into google have forgotten exact website), www.formes.com, and www.isabellaoliver.com have got some fantastic key pieces. Quite pricey, but fantastic quality and will last for your next one!!!!? Most have the option to order a catalogue. Another is www.noppies.com, some people rave about it, personally I didn't find anything I would be seen dead in, let alone pregnant!! Hopefully your wife can find something from these sites.
Good luck
