Growing pains
I have asked this before but can't remember the answers sorry!
Anyway my 4.5 year old has been experiencing what we presume are growing pains. She complains sometimes before bed of leg pains and wakes up in the night absolutely screaming which is very unusual for her. She never ever wakes up normally. She is very distressed and writhes about on the bed. It is horrible to see her like that and it has happened over the months about 4 times now. Should she see a doctor or is this common?

My youngest son still gets them now, and he was 9 last month. After each lot, which can go on for a few days, he noticeably grows taller. Our doctor's sympathetic to this, and just advises giving pain relief if it gets too much. In my son's case, he's been known to cry with the awful pains in his arms and legs, but thankfully, these bursts are now getting fewer as he gets older.
One of my granddaughter has suffered from growing pains for a few years now. She is 6 in January. This year my daughter has put an electric blanket on her bed and she seems to be better with the heat. The doctors just say its growing pains and give her painkillers. I know how you feel as it is awful to see them in such pain.Hope this helps. xx
