Can anyone explain to me why semi-skimmed milk (haven't checked the price of skimmed or full-fat) is so expensive in the likes of Sainsburys, Asda and Tesco? Its around 1.50 for the 2 litre own label. Tesco do a cheaper version which is usually on the bottom shelf away from their own brand for obvious reasons and thats around 1.20 ish.
I live in a small village and we are lucky enough to have a greengrocer/deli where they sell the same thing at 1.19 and the newsagent next door to the deli is selling the same thing at 1.15. Presumably the big supermarkets are banking on most customers buying milk and not noticing the price but if little shops can do it?????
Needed to get this off my chest as it irritates me LOADS (as if you couldn't guess).
Tesco - Fresh n Low was 96p yesterday but their own brand still 1.50+ How can this be and why are the big supermarkets keeping such a large percentage?
And Lucy Thomas5, I know they are sold in litres but its the same price whether its litres or 2.2 pints
Tescos are a rip off, they say they are cutting their prices but I buy more or less the same things every week (I'm on my own) and my shopping bill has gone up by at least 20 per week in the last couple of months! I have been buying currants for the birds and 3 weeks ago they were 1-69 for a kilo now they are 2-89, how do they warrant that !
