I was very shocked last night to see my 18 year old son in our bedroom going through our underwear draw and sniffing my wife (his mum's) panties.  He was so embarassed and so was I, is this the start of something? i really cant face going home and seeing him tonight and i know he will feel the same.

Whatever you do don't let this get out of hand, take him for a drink, phone and arrange to meet him in a pub before you go home, you are the parent you have to take control....I would try and be light hearted about it...good luck....

Seriously, though? If this is true, then I wouldn't be able to face going home either! The more I read it, the more I think that you surely can't have made something like this up! It's like a scene from American Pie or something...and I think it's quite disgusting too.

If your son is sniffing your wife's undies, my first worry would NOT be that he was going to start wearing them...

I think this is entirely normal behaviour.Your son is developing his  sexuality and a such is becoming aware of pheromones.He will be atracted inevitably to female sex smells and will have learned they are present on female pants.Socially he wll in time learn and the event you describe is one such learning episode that smelling your mothers pants is probably off limits.The most damaging part of this episode is if your relationship with him is compromised.Talk about it an open and supportive way.He may be ready to move on to bycycle seats!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
