Lovemaking overheard by children
A little delicate this. Twice recently my daughter, 14 years old, has overheard my wife and me making love. Her reaction was to call the house telephone number from her mobile and hang up when it was answered.
This was a little disruptive to say the least but this is not the issue. I am concerened that my daughter is distressed by what she has heard. Should we talk to her about this and explain that what we do is perfectly normalor say nothing.
Oh and yes we are TRYING to be a bit more discreet.
Thanks

I know when I was 14 I liked to think that my parents only had sex 4 times resulting in my siblings and I. However, I know this was not the truth. Fortunately I never heard them at it, thank God.
I assume if your daughter has the wit to phone you on her mobile (rather clever actually) then she has the wit to realise that you can do 1471 and know who it is, so not sure if there is any point in talking about it, it would probably be extremely embarrassing for her (and you).
I guess its a judgement call depending on the openess and communicative nature of your relationship.
Best of luck.
P.S keep the noise down, we can hear you in Belfast!

I may well be wrong, but I would bet that she is not as naive as you might think.
Yesterdays 14yr olds are todays 18yr olds and not as ignorant of the facts of life that you might think.
I would wager, that she is discussing this with her friends at school, with the odd giggle thrown in.
Talk to her about sex if you want, but do not centre the discussion on the above incident.
