A married couple have a child ,after a number of years the husband has his doubts regarding being the real father of the child ,eventually the husband deceides to leave having now become obsessed for the truth ,from that time the husband is hounded everywhere that he goes being accused of leaving the family with nothing ,in fact the truth was the husband had left a large sum of money £35.000 + the family car,the husband has a mental breakdown and looses his job due to the ex wife stage managing the situation, to gain maximum sympathy,He looses everything, all his friends, all his work mates turn on him.

25 years on the husband who is now disabled ,mainly due to the breakdown, that he suffered is browsing a few sites on the internet and completly out of the blue finds information regarding the identity of the REAL father of the child ..

What action if any could the husband take ,his name would still be on the birth certificate ,the real father is a wealthy man ,should he be liable for his actions or for the expense with regards to the bringing up of his child up until the husband left .

The above is a true story ,I would be very grateful for your input. Thank you

There is a presumption of legitimacy when a child is born to a married woman. The husband is presumed to be the father. And the child was treated as a 'child of the family' until the husband left.
There is no action he can take against the biological father.
this happened recently i think in the news (not saying it's the same story. Any way, th "fake" dad didn't get anywhere with suing the wife/real father, and lost all respect of "his" children in the process
