Hope some AB mums can help.   After you weaned your baby, how long did it take for the milk in your breasts to completely disappear.  We're now 4 weeks post weaning, but there's still a little milk there if I make like a milk maid and hand express.  Just interested in how long it will take my body to break it down and get rid of it.

I haven't been through that yet but my friend who had a baby 8 weeks ago is still producing milk even though she's bottle fed the whole time so you could be in for a long wait. Expressing it will make you keep producing it though.
I stopped breastfeeding many months ago and I still get a little milk from time to time. I know that if I give a wee squeeze a little milk still appears.
Many months.  Stop expressing or your body will still think there is a demand for milk.

sorry, wasn't being clear....I'm not actually expressing milk, just giving the boobs the odd squeeze now and then to see what's happening.

Cheers ladies. xx

Just the odd squeeze now and again will make your milk continue indefinitely.  Leave well alone!

Hello.

I had my last baby (who I breastfed for a year) just over three years ago. I dont regularly squeeze my breasts to express, but on the odd occasion that I do... I can STILL get some milk out..... only a few drops... but its still there nevertheless.

Its not uncommon for this to happen. I'm a health visitor, and I know of lots of women whose ability to make breastmilk never completely goes....  but obviously with it being a supply and demand process.... if you leave well alone.... you'll never make enough for it to be a problem.... ie.. leaking etc.

Well done for breastfeeding.

Yeah my son is now 3, breast fed for 18 months and I can still get some milk now, mainly after sex!!!!??? It os only occassionally (the milk, not the sex!!!) and it is only a few drops! Christ when I was breast feeding I could have shot it dow the road and back!  :)

Thanks everyone.  Three stars all round (and one bonus star for those who managed to breast feed!).  I shall leave well alone, but was curious.  Went to docs this week re a lump and he did think that my oddly cylindrical lump may be to do with a milk duct....hence my interest in milk production.  Will see what breast clinic folk say ina  few weeks.  Cheers again. xx
Hi, STOP! The more you express the body will carry on producing Milk . It's supply on demand. If you leave your breasts alone they will stop producing the milk really quickley.I speak from experience and I hope this helps. All the best    Shazza x

my wife had milk nearly a year later but it did decrease over time
