Hello I am 37 weeks pregnant and my babys head is engaged, however her back is on my right instead of on my left and so my midwife has given me some exercises to help turn her back to the left. Anyone experienced this, and know why its important to be on the left? Thanks!
Thanks for the link- the baby isn't lyin sideways its head down, but its actually leaning to the right instead of the left. I shall ask my midwife when I see her, don't know if I can wait another 2 weeks though! X
In you case....it doesn't matter if the back is to the right or to the left.
The position of the back of the head of the baby is the important factor and in your case the head is engaged.
No big deal.
By the time you read this, you will be in labour ;-)-
Thank you! She is 2/5 engaged so little way to go yet! Hopefully not too long! The back of her head is on right and facing left, midwife said she should be the other way round so I have been told no lying on my right and not to cross my legs as much as possible, and I have to sit on the sofa facing forward with a pillow to turn her
I think you should just relax and do your exercises don't. Try to do to much and if you think you need a brake and stuff starts to happen call your doctor
no sqad its my 5th but 3rd full term...lizi i am still waiting- she turned back to the left but in the last week she has trned right again.
apparently baby should be on the left as this means she has passed the point of being back to back and labour should be easier ( ie: she will only need to rotate 90 degrees- however being on the right means she will have to rotate more ( inc round the back- 270 degrees) which will cause a lot of pain at around 5cm dilation while she moves past my back.
