If however you mean husband/fiance/boyfriend then yes, I did want him to be there through labour and birth. I presume he wanted to be there - I didn't actually ask him I just told him he was going to be there. He was there at the beginning so he could jolly well be there at the end! I'm sure he wouldn't have missed his children being born for the world though.
he always wanted to be there but i didnt want him to see the 'business end' lol
Mind you once labour starts you really dont care who has a look and he watched our son come into the world, and cried like a baby when he was handed our son.
I couldnt have done it without him, he was a great birthing partner

My ex wasnt there when our son was born but I didnt want him there. We used to fight over what was on TV never mind me being in agaony lol
(He wasnt my ex at the time by the way) When I announced that I was in labour and was going to the hospital- he went to bed!! Grrrr He turned up at hospital 3 days later HOURS after I had had the baby. I phoned him at 9am the morning after my son was born and he complained that I had woken him up!
My boyfriend now - if/when we have a baby I would want him there and he would want to be. Think it would be horrible for him though cause he is squemish lol

My husband was there, although was at "my" end. Mum happened to be there by chance (dropping off sarnies for my hubby as thought we were in for a long night when it all started happening!).
Mum actually watched her first grandchild come into the world and said it was the most amazing thing ever. I think its lovely that she was (obviously) there when I was born but also for my child too.
Hubby cut the cord and had a few wee tears, I was just screaming "give me my baby!" but they wouldn't until they had stitched me up!
I think its lovely for partners to be there but I know some men are very squeamish so not for them - each to their own.

My husband was there for the birth of our first daughter and there for the recent birth of our twin boys. I couldn't have done it without him, and like one of the answers says - there wasn't ever really a question of him not being there. For both births he was really strong and supportive, and absolutely stayed up the head end and not the business end !!! I think every father should be there for the birth of their children if they can, I think it is something they will regret if they don't, and I defy any man not to cry when they see their child born !
When I had my daughter over 6 years ago, things were bad relationship wise and wasnt sure if her fatehr would be there or not so I was looking to my mum as a stand in.........she was adament she wasnt going to watch me go through labour!! lol In the end he was there so my mum was let off!
This time round, everything is different and I dont think a steel vault and minefield would keep my boyfriend away from seeing our baby born! Oh he is so going to suffer with sympathy pains though if the past couple of months is anything to go by! lol
