Update on Baby Mia
Hey everyone - thought i'd update you all on our first week with Mia.
I'm still in absolute agony due to a stich they gave me which is making it difficult me to sit down!! So life will be much better once its healed.
Mia is completely gorgeous!! I sometimes have to shake myself to realise she's ours!!!!
Had to feed her on formula (much to my dissapointment) as i didnt have any milk until yesterday! (my breast were painfully engorged!!). I have now started expressing it to relieve the pain and feeding Mia it through a bottle. Hoping i'll be able to breastfeed properly but midwife is out tomorrow so i'll get her to help me!
She only wakes up a few times during the night, as long as she gets her milk she's fine!!
Gave her her first bath today and she was fab - seemed to quite enjoy it!
I have had the odd emotional breakdown as i hate the house being untidy (i just want to grab a hoover - but have resisted!) and i hate being restricted (due to my stiches). I want to be back to normal, be able to jump out of bed with ease and feed Mia happily without being in agony because of the position i've sat in!! But i'm sure i'll be fine soon!
If any of you want a pic let me know and i'll send a few through - [email protected].
Hope all the other new mummies are coping well! xxx

Ouch , I remember having stitches as I had some with my son . Makes it really awkward to sit , have you got a really soft seat ? When your milk first appears it will gorge your breasts and be sore , the best way is to gently express some off so that the nipple is not so tense for baby latching on. The way forward , if you intend to breastfeed , is to get the midwife to help you both and once Mia is taking her feeds as she wants , your milk supply will settle to supply-on-demand . The early days of getting your supply established will hopefully soon be a distant memory.
It's fun when baby enjoys a bath and don't they smell gorgeous .
Try to ignore the housework for now love as you need rest , do you not have anyone to help you and do some hoovering and clothes washing , etc ?
xx hugs

Hey bigmamma! Lovely to hear from you too! How are you doing?
In terms of stiches, i cant seem to find a comfy position to sit in!! But i'm having regular baths with tea tree oil and salt - to hopefully speed up process of healing!
Engorged breasts are a nightmare - cant wait to get into a routine like the supply and demand you mentioned!
Boyfriends here to help me, but he's also shattered and not as clean freak as me! He;s fab with Mia though and takes on the early morning call for a feed!!
Hope you're keeping well lovely xxx

thanks for the photos Nat, Mia is absolutely beautiful.
I didnt have stiches but can still remember how uncomfy is was when everything below was so bruised, just keep up with the salt baths. It can take a few weeks for you body to get used to it but youll get there.
Forget the tidying for now, guests wont see it as they will be too busy fussing over your gorgeous daughter hun.

Sorry I'm late with this, nat ~ had PC problems for ages!
Firstly, a big 'very well done' to you, hun. I didn't get to find out how the birth went...was it smooth or traumatic?
Chuffed to bits for ya :o) Mia is a beautiful name ~ isn't that the name Mr nat wasn't keen on? well done for swaying him...lol.
I know how you feel about the stitch. After I had my first baby the midwife came round to see me at home and I mentioned that I couldn't sit down. She had a look and told me that I had a big stitch that hadn't dissolved, so she had to take it out.
After she had taken it out (and peeled me off the ceiling) I had the most blessed relief...almost as good as after the baby came out!

hey Pips! Thanks very much. It was a slightly traumatic delivery - i was in labour for 12 hours and 25 minutes after being induced, had an epidural but didnt top up for the actual delivery so i could push and supposedly make it a quicker process.... however, Mia wasn't budging at the final stage no matter how much i pushed (later realised it was because she had her hand up by her head).
They tried the vacuum on her head - which once attached and pulled came straight off (much to my discomfort!!) and had to resort to a forceps delivery - once again, very uncomfortable - but did the job! I was vomiting throughout the birth and had bad headaches (hadnt eaten for about 36 hours because i was on a drip!)
From what started as such a smooth labour (baby didnt get distressed once throughout the whole labour - was told they usually expect a few minor twicthes!) i ended up losing lots of blood and almost fainted when i went to leave the delivery room - it was all a bit of a mess really but got there in the end!! And got my little Angel with me! x
